Today with Exchange, you can configure your ActiveSync-enabled mobile devices to synchronize with your Exchange server mailbox at intervals as frequent as every five minutes. This is known as PULL technology in that your device is manually pulling data from the exchange server to your device.

Recently, Microsoft release a new version of Exchange called Service Pack 2. Exchange SP2 offers mobile PUSH technology. Eastbay can configure your device to automatically receive an e-mal as it arrives. ie - mail is instantly "pushed" from the server to your device.
